At Winchelsea Farm kitchen we specialise in small production handmade wines of the highest quality mainly French.
Winchelsea has had a long history with wine from being a major wine port in the 14th century to the underground cellers that are still visible today.
Wine was used for pleasure, entertainment and medicine. In 1306 Winchelsea’s ships bought in 737,000 gallons equivalent of wine. It’s underground cellers were used to store the wine.
The cellers are few of the medieval ones that remain in Britain. Visitors can take tours of the cellars to learn how they were used to store wine.
We focus on small producers who care deeply about their land and the wines they produce.
We have always been enchanted by the people, the way of life and the magic of French wines. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than driving around the vineyards of France getting to know the growers and their families and establishing relationships.
In a previous shop in the Luberon we were privileged to have Claude one of the owners attend and serve the wines from their vineyard at our events. A long cherished memory.
Our central London suppliers ship wines direct from the cellers of the growers who they have worked with for over 30 years and mainly supply central London restaurants and nightclubs. We are privelaged to work with them to bring exclusive wines to Winchelsea.
